FILE SPECIFICATIONS
FILE TYPES WE ACCEPT
File types that we will accept are PDF, EPS, TIFF, or JPEG, in order of preference. If providing a PDF, please ensure that it is high resolution. If providing a TIFF or JPEG, please ensure that it is 300dpi resolution, and that the file is not in layers, but has been flattened.

FILE TYPES WE CANNOT ACCEPT
Please note that we cannot accept Indesign, Publisher, Corel, or Word files. If you have artwork designed in these programs and are unable to output one of the file types listed above, you may need to have a designer recreate your files in a ‘print-ready’ file format.

BLEED
Files need a 1mm bleed. i.e. If a business card is to be 89x54mm (trimmed size), the artboard needs to be set up to be 91x56mm (physical size), with all background images/colours going to the edge of the physical size. Text needs to be inside the bleed area, with enough margin that it won't be trimmed off, we recommend 2-3mm from the trimmed size.

PHYSICAL SIZE
The file should be the finished size plus the bleed. e.g. if a business card is 89x54mm plus 1mm bleed all round, the physical size of the supplied file should be 91x56mm. Please don’t leave any white space around the edge of the file. A clipping mask of the correct measurements applied to the whole job can be useful to eliminate objects that extend beyond the physical size.

SEPARATE FILES
Please provide the front and back of a file as two separate files, not in the same file.

BOOKLETS
If the file you are providing is more than 2 pages long then it is best to have it as one multi paged document rather than separate files. The multi page document should be in page order and in single page form. Print Domain will check your files and email you a final proof for approval.

FILE NAMES
It is helpful if files are appropriately named. For example, a business card for John Smith, might be named smith_card_front.pdf and smith_card_back.pdf

FONTS
All fonts must be embedded or encapsulated. It is preferable that the fonts have been converted to outlines/curves. (This is compulsory if file is an EPS). Due to legal reasons, we are unable to install any fonts that we are not licensed to own.

CMYK / RGB / SPOT COLOURS
The files must only contain CMYK process colours. Any images that are in RGB colour mode will not print. Please convert all images to CMYK. Please also ensure that there are no spot colours included in the artwork, unless previously arranged to have a spot colour printed.

RECEIVING FILES
Files can be emailed to prepress@printdomain.com.au If you are sending an EPS or TIFF please compress the files using WinZip or Stuff It. If the file size is too large to email please send a CD to PO Box 201, Smithton, TAS, 7330.

RIP SETTINGS
Any objects that have a fill or stroke of 100% black will be automatically overprinted when the file is sent to the RIP (the press plates are made). You will need to keep this in mind especially when placing black objects over images etc as the image will more than likely have a more than black in its mix and therefore appear darker (showing through) than your black object.

OVERPRINTS FOR BODY TEXT
Any black body text overlapping artwork or colour backgrounds must be 100% black and set to overprint (Most art design packages like Adobe Indesign and Adobe Illustrator have this option) DO NOT put body text in CMYK black- eg. 60% cyan, 40% magenta, 20% yellow, 100% black - this makes the job very hard to register depending on the stock it is printed on).

TRANSPARENCIES
If the artwork you are supplying has any transparency effects - eg. Drop shadows, white objects at 50% opacity, blurs etc. that have been applied to vector objects they need to be flattened. (Most art design packages like Adobe Indesign and Adobe Illustrator have this option).
